The Golden Gate Bridge is one of San Francisco's most notorious landmarks. It bridges the San Francisco Bay on the North side of the city between San Francisco County and Marin County. It is a suspension bridge, and has survived a large number of earthquakes over the years. One of its most distinctive features is its color, which is a deep orange hue known as International Orange. A suspension bridge, it spans the Golden Gate, the opening into the San Francisco Bay from the Pacific Ocean, connecting San Francisco Peninsula to Marin County. The bridge is a part of US Highway 101 and California State Highway 1.
